The Feature Department is organized around a theme each month. We editors select themes that we believe will enhance the corporate lives of U.S. Mennonite Brethren congregations and the personal lives of our members. The Christian Leader serves as a resource for connecting the U.S. Mennonite Brethren family, celebrating our Lord Jesus Christ and cultivating us as his disciples.

June/July 2009 – Celebrating U.S. Mennonite Brethren ministries
Denominational staff members and leaders will contribute articles related to their areas of ministry.

Aug/Sept 2009 – Relationships/marriage
We want to explore healthy relationships, including marriage.

Oct/Nov 2009 – Consumerism/stewardship/care of the earth
We’re also interested in a piece related to Thanksgiving.

Dec 2009/Jan 2010 – 150th Anniversary of Mennonite Brethren Church
Articles will be commissioned jointly by U.S. and Canadian periodicals.

Feb/March 2010 – The Church and …
These articles will explore areas in which local congregations are challenged in their ministry. Possible topics include dealing with poverty, worship styles and making difficult congregational decisions.

April/May 2010 – In affirmation of life

These articles will look at various issues related to the Mennonite Brethren emphasis on the sanctity of human life. Topics that may be included are abortion, the value of people with handicaps, issues related to aging, etc.
