Being a predominantly Hispanic region, the majority of these churches have their services in Spanish, with some locations using a combination of languages and others using more English to reach out to the younger generations. In regards to form, these churches are indicative of our larger national picture, being truly diverse in their ways of ´doing´ church, with diverse styles of worship and programs.
Located in one of the fastest growing parts of the country (Mcallen-Edinburg-Mission), the LAMB Churches are finding a new challenge as they try to renew and reinvent themselves amongst the vastly growing and diverse people moving into our area. The challenges we face are not quite different than those in other places of the country. We are faced with a new generation, raised on a different social ethos, who are looking for Jesus in relevant and real ways, but tired of tradition and religion. Our challenge is to learn to transition from our way of doing things, all the while preserving the heritage of a proud past, but pressing forward into a new reality that is relevantly and actively engaging our present with new ways of being and doing church, so that we may even have a future as a Conference. Pray with us as we encounter these challenges head on, and learn to trust God and faithfully respond in active obedience to his call of being the church for today!
